Johann Strauss throws a party in this fabulously farcical opera
Join the Utah Opera as they close their 40th anniversary season with a sumptuous party with this production of Johann Strauss' fabulously farcical opera set to a lush romantic score. Masks, mischief, disguises and ridiculous revenge swirl together like waltzing dancers as man-about-town Gabriel von Eisenstein is finally paid back for a long-forgotten prank.
In the elegant apartments and ballrooms of 19th century Vienna four people lie to each other about their whereabouts, all heading to a luxurious dance given by Prince Orlovsky. Chief amongst them is Eisenstein who's about to go to prison for a short stretch, his wife Rosalinde and their maid Adele. Will they recognise each other on the dance-floor or not? Either way, the truth will out in hilarious fashion!
